First, I'm not entirely sure this is the correct forum for this but apologies in advance. I know there is a private custom knife forum but I wanted a place where more than just the makers could reply. Also I did read the FAQ but I might just be stupid! :stupid:

Anyways, I'm looking for custom knife work and I want to avoid the possibility of having items get stuck at the boarder. Therefore, Canadian makers...Ontario being even better. No offense to the Americans especially when they create such amazing knives!

I'm interested in a large bowie with a kydex sheath, I'll get more specific once there are some replies on this thread. Please recommend any favourite makers, advice etc. etc. Thanks! :)

Rick Marchand is up in Wheatley, Ontario and he creates some extraordinary knives with a very distinctive style. I'm not sure he works with kydex, but.....

Good luck in your search.

wally hays, Jim Downey, Murray St amour are a few more off the top... there is quite a lot in ontario if you want to look em up.

Ya Rick,he's one of the mods here, very nice guy. ALso his friend Wally Hayes lives close, and he's an ABS Master Smith as well.

Thanks everyone. :)

123... Rick does seem like a good choice. Found another thread with a ton of Canadian knife makers but the link to his website was dead. Plenty to investigate. :)

which part of ontario are we talking? its a pretty big province. I'm in the same boat with trying to find local guys who wanted get together and play knives now and then. when I was in Edmonton, i used to get together once in a while with a group of older gents and just drink coffee and show our new ideas in one or anothers shop.... matter of fact, does anybody do this in the Ottawa area these days? or anywhere within 4 hours drive i suppose, as i do have a car and would love to meet up and shoot the breeze.
