I sent the Salsa off yesterday, and can provide a tracking # if required.

I don't have enough time for a full review, so here's the abridged version
CONS
- lock pinches hand when opening
- lock is not as easy to close as a regular liner lock(but, see below)
- Aus 8 is not my favorite, but it'll do I guess
- a bit wide for pocket carry
- hard to get the pocket clip of(I couldn't)

PROS :D
- great grind, nice and thin= great slicing
- lock is safer to close than a reg liner lock, as fingers don't get caught
- easy to sharpen
- short blade and choil make for a full hand grip, even though the handle is short- very ingenious
- big hole/cobra hood make it super easy to open
- great detent makes the knife snap closed and stay that way
- love the cobra hood for heavy cutting

Overall, if this were a liner lock it would be one of my favorites, in VG-10, even better!!

PLUS the neck rig on this one is even better than the one on the Lum Chinese!!! Awesome work, Normark.

Thanks to Dave for the opportunity to test a great little work knife. I may buy one.

Jim thanks for the quick turnaround. After a while I learned to avoid the pinch.

Also if you like the form factor consider the Ti sasla, better steel, and pinchless!

I had to go searching for the pinch on the passaround one...

just lift the index finger a bit, and you don't get pinched.

I think there is one more person than back to me, I have a specific project in mind once it gets back. Stay tuned!

hmm, actually there may be a couple more people.

bansidthe, email me to let me know who's left on the list, JohnClark supposed to be on there somewhere.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave

I just received the Salsa yesterday afternoon(friday). First item in the mail that I have ever received from the North West Territories. Kind of neat. John Clarke is the last person on the list after me and begore it returns to you. I will be sending it out in 4 or 5 days and will post a report shortly there after.

Thanks, next time I'll print out a separate passaround list and tack it on my wall. That way I can follow along better. :D

Hey Jim...

Thanks for the plug..:)
Glad you liked it....

BTW..

did you get my letter in time to add the contents to the salsa package ???

Eric...

Just sent the salsa west to John Clarke. I doubt he will get it before Christmas given the huge volume of mail this time of year.

When I first opened the blade I immediately identified with it...short, wide with plenty of belly. However I did find the blade was a little too wide for some chores.

The lock seemed to work well but I couldn't find the pinch so many have. My loss I guess. The detent built into the compression lock ws impressive. I doubt it will ever open accidently.

I loved the handle; it fit my hand like it was custom made.

Fit and finish was up to Spyderco's standards.

All in all a nicely executed design with a blade I found a bit too wide.

The neck sheath provided by Normark was beautifully crafted and changed the Salsa into a useful neck knife. Thanks Eric.

Thanks to Dave H for making this knife available north of the 49th parallel.

Eric, I still have not seen the letter. Hopefully soon.
And, BTW, with work like yours, I'm sure my recommendation is just redundant. I'm not surprised your name comes up EVERY time someone asks where they can get a top quality kydex/concealex sheath. Your product speaks for itself.

Regards
