Hey there.

I'm looking for a distributer of butterfly knives who will ship to Canada. The business I previously bought off closed operations several months ago.

Thanks.

George is right. Buttefly knives are highly illegal in Canada. They'll never get past customs and if you get caught with one look out!

Is that so? I've ordered them many times in the past and never had any trouble.

I was looking through the CCC and didn't see anything about butterflys.

A balisong or butterfly knife is a "prohibited Weapon"
Read this first: http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum40/HTML/000220.html
It is also a criminal offence to import or export a prohibited weapon or device under sections 103 and 104 of the Code and doing so is subject, in the case of a violation of section 103["knowing that the person is not authorized..."], to a MINIMUM sentence of one year's imprisonment and a maximun of ten.
S. 104, which doesn't have the "knowing" requirement, isn't as severe. No minimum and a maximum of only 5 years in jail.

Noone with any shred of common sense should use BFF to communicate for the purpose of importing balisongs or butterfly knives into Canada. You endanger everyone here, including yourself, by doing so, whether or not you understand or believe or care that balisongs are illegal in Canada.
Now discussing whether they are or should be legal, or how they are made or used - that's different. They should be legal. They're not.

I was unaware. I just assumed since I had no trouble ordering or recieving them through simple air-mail that they were legit. And I do completely believe you. Thanks a lot.

No problem, Marshall.
The laws are ridiculously obscure. How were you supposed to know? Glad we could help. Wish it were different.
