Can't find the GEC Barlow I want
Looking at the Canal Street Barlow.
Does anyone have one that they use?
How is the fit/finish? Does the 14-4 hold a decent edge?
Thanks!

Gaspumps, the 14-4 is a high alloy stainless like ATS-34, and should be around 59-60 hardness.
Probably better than anything else in a traditional besides D2.

I too have a white linen barlow. F&F is great, a little fatter and the blade is shorter than I prefer. Been pretty spoiled by the Charlows from GEC. For the money, unless you are looking for a collectors piece, I would find one of the Charlows. You get a lot more usable blade on the GEC for pretty much the same closed length. Just my opinion.

I will just have to hold out for that GEC TC Barlow with the spear point blade then.

Gaspump- Mink's reply is spot on. The CSC has sunk joints and no half stop. Also- The logo is fairly shallow. The "TC" stamping is bold and sharp-it leaves no doubt as to the Charlow's identity.
