I picked up a Canal Street Canittler in a trade recently, and I am blown away. Rams horn scales, really nice D2 blades (I'm new to the whittler design, except for a Frost model). I hadn't really paid attention to this brand before, other than really liking a trapper/skinner set in an AG Russell catalog. The snap of the main blade was like a lockback! No wiggle, razor sharp. Even came with a nice drawstring bag. Really nice pamphlet, and Queen/Schatt and Morgan style box.

I foresee this one as being my new special carry knife!

I keep looking at Canal Street. The fact it is an American made product is important to me. I feel the need to speak with my money and buy American when I can. I may even be looking at the Canittler, I like the pattern.

I love the Canal Streets, and love the cannittler pattern concept. Had to have one. So I got one. I do like it, but that main blade is just a bit big, and looks kind of out of proportion to the rest of the knife. That said, it's a very nice knife, and very well put together.

don't worry...we didn't want to see pictures of this knife. :p

You're fortunate to get one with a decent spring, all 3 of mine won't really close on their own, pretty poor.

I've had no problem with the canittlers, and I've got three, two safe queens I've posted here and one EDC that I switch off with a gunstock jack similar to the one in pic two, also with great snap. They're not nail breakers, but they're not loose either by any means, and that's fine with me since I don't see any reason that springs should be so tight that you have to struggle to open a knife. On the other hand if it was a big 'ol 5 inch cokebottle I might be inclined to look for something with a very stout spring due to the heavy duty work that accompanies such a big knife. One thing I have to say is that their knives always come razor sharp, no reprofiling necessary.

A few months ago, I picked up the '07 BFs knife (CSC Cannitler in Mastodon) & was VERY impressed. Yes, the main blade sticks up some, but it's a thick, hard working blade & I love the idea of 2 springs for 1 blade.

I haven't brought myself to really use it, though. I should get another Cannitler that I wouldn't be as bothered to use, but it did make me get the orange G-10 Case Seahorse Whittler (With Wharncliffe main blade) for an EDC. I'll admit Case's SS is NOTHING like CSC's D2, though.

The Cannitler is the only Canal Street knife I have, but if it's representative of their work, their F&F is awesome.
