So I am seriously looking at the CSC Boy's Knife with African zebra wood. I think the knife looks great, and best of all it is my favorite length closed at 3.25". I've handled CSC knives and thought they were very nice. Just looking for any feedback from members here. How was the pull? How was edge grinds? And so forth.

Thanks - Pat.

I have a "moonpie trapper". The pull is a nice medium and the walk is very smooth. My example has some minor F&F issues but overall it's very nice and I enjoy carrying and using it. CSC does good work.

I have about 15 CSC knives but not a Boys knife. All of these CSC folders have even blade grinds and very good 'fit' throughout. All blades have a pull of 5-6. CSC gets spring tension right. I have not heard of a CSC knife with a 'bear trap' spring.
No reason for the Boys knife to be any different from above description, however still best to hear from those who own one of these knives.
Some people may not know that Canal Street Cutlery is a very small company with a lot of old time 'hand's on' type of work. Because of this they are close to being a 'semi-custom'.
GEC gets a lot of attention here in BF so one might assume that CSC is a similar company. But they are not. GEC is much larger and makes many times more knives per month than CSC.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with all the CSC knives I own or have owned. Their boy's knife is just their barlow pattern with a single blade and different bolsters so I'd assume the pull and fit and finish everything would be just the same as their barlow's which are a great knife. Last years forum knife runner up was the Eric's Jack and is the same as the boy's knife minus the shield and with awesome stag. If you can find an Eric's Jack that is the knife to get, only 100 made if I remember right. One of my favorite knives is my Canal Street made Kabar coppersmith half moon trapper. Great company that doesn't get nearly the recognition they deserve. Not quite up to GEC quality but really really close and leaps and bounds ahead of Queen or Case in my opinion. Just the fact that a lot of the old Schrade USA employee's work there and they are made in Schrade's old factory makes them a special company and I really hope they continue to succeed.

CSC makes an amazing product, hands down. The only issue I have ever had could be considered a personal preference. I wish the pulls were just a tad stronger. Everything else has been spot on. I would say buy with confidence.

PM received Charlie, and much appreciated.

Well as soon as all parties involved with some sales I made are happy I'll be ordering my first CSC knife.

I've stopped by the CSC Booth at BLADE over the years and always liked their knives, just never seemed to buy one. I especially liked the Swell Center Jack, but it's a bit bigger than I like for pocket carry. My most carried traditionals are in the 3.5" and under range, with my Case Medium Jack at 3.25 at the sweet spot for me.

Nice knife! I saw that A. G. Russell is selling one with pretty "dusty gold G-10" handles on their Knife Collector's Club brochure.

CSC also has great customer service. I sent in my 2007 Bladeforums Cannitler (canoe/whittler) with a scale curling up and off of the handle. They replaced the scale, and polished the bolsters, while they had it.

I have an 'Eric's Jack'; made by a BF member, a CSC cutler and one of the most knowledgeable Schrade historians, how could i not get one ? It was a rare and special opportunity. Good to learn that it is on the same frame as their 'Boy's Knife'.
Now should that be 'Boys' Knife' ?

I had a pinch air lockback in bone linen it would feel many in thinking it had custom work done on it, ff was terrific. If it were a 3.5" closed knife and not a size that I had a bunch of already it would be my edc.

A member of the forum has this one now

Got my CSC Boy's Knife in zebra wood today. Very pleased with it. Pull is around a 5 1/2 to 6, walk & talk is good with no half stop. Edge bevel are even and shaving sharp out of the box. Only a slight bit of light seen between the liner at one spot, no proud pins. About the only fault I found is a slight (2mm or so) scuff on the shield side bolster. Betting I could polish that out, but as I'll just end up adding my own as I carry it, no worries.

Adding this here because Charlie told me to post it when I get it :)

Nice one Halfneck! I've been very happy with all of my CSC knives I've had over the years. In my opinion they are the most underrated slip joint company currently in business.

Was looking at my GEC TC Barlow today and compared it to my new CSC Boy's Knife. Hadn't even noticed it, but the blade has a sunken joint.
