Now that like predecessor Schrade, Canal Street Cutlery has closed it's doors do you think their knives will increase in collector value. I have a Chestnut wood trapper and stockman that have been carried a little but never used and a D'Holder Bowie and half moon trapper combo in Madagascar ebony that have never been used. Canal Street to me seemed to be a semi custom company.

Irona it hardly seems like it's been a year ago. I talked to Canal Streets Atty. who sold their products online and asked at that time if he was going to sell other brands and at that time he said he didn't know. I don't get email's from his company any more.

I think like other cutleries before them, as there will be no more knives made under the CSC name that some patterns will become collectible. Going by some of the prices fetched on everyone's favorite auction site, they are going for some nice prices.

After the initial shock of the closure, prices certainly seemed to take a hike, that or a bandwaggon got rolling... Lot depends on how many of these knives were user and how many stowed away unused as a boutique knife. I suspect the latter represents the majority and this may mean that they are not so relatively scarce. What I do know is that looking on knives as investment potential is less than reliable, that and you need to live about 150 years. Enjoy the knives as they are now and invest in Gold (it's bound to get popular:D:D )

You're right Will, you can even get some new over the counter. Some shop raised prices, some did not... :)

I imagine they will go up in value. They made very high quality, beautiful knives. I'm frankly surprised that Knives Ship Free has several of their Boy's knife model still in stock.

i have a few half moon trappers, and a few kabar trapper's stocked up. half moon trappers were the traditionals that really brought me back, so ill never let them go. i guess they could go up in the long run

There's at least another shop holding Muskrat, Stockman, Trapper, Congress, Swell Center Jack, Canittler and even a set Trailing Drop Point & moon pie Trapper... they don't seem to sell fast.

right, i was waiting to decide on a gold g-10 boys knife with i believe some site not sure if they are a dealer so i wont mention it. they had 19 in stock. a few months after the closure, still there. i couldnt justify it at the time, so i didnt buy it. also it was a tad small having got the eric's jack in hand. but i thought eventually maybe ill buy it. checked recently no luck. i suppose it depends on the place :(

Canal Street Closed the factory in Ellenvile. Wally Gardiner, Owner, still owns the Name and Brand of Canal Street Cutlery! Having said this, there could be some new Canal Street Knives hitting the streets in the future!

Just something to consider!
