Canal Street Cutlery fixed blades? Good? Bad?

I'm looking at this knife, Canal Street Cutlery: 7 3/4" Trailing Drop Point Hunter w/Leather Sheath - Carved Amber Stag Bone, and I'm wondering if it is a good value and a good user. I really haven't seen any reviews of Canal Street fixed blades and was hoping someone in this forum might have one or some experience using one. What else in this price range should I consider for a good user in a normal utilitarian role that isn't a true carbon steel (A2, 1095, etc.)?

Don't know anything about the knife, but I do see that it's D2 steel. If you're not familiar you might want to check into it. It's my least favorite knife steel. Seems to take a terrible edge and hold it forever. That's someone else's description, but I find it apt.
