Had to leave Blade today around noon to take care of some family things in Chattanooga.

GigOne and I met up on Friday and he pointed out a booth for me to check out. Canal Street Cutlerly is a company that his just started off steered by some of the folks at Schrade. All I can say is that the knives they had were absolute knockout in every way, including blade steel. The action ,fit and finish are far superior to any thing I have seen by a production company since I have been alive. In other words Gig was right on the mark telling me I better get my bohunkus over there.

They are in production in limited runs right now (A.G. is carrying some.)

It is pretty refreshing to see a new cutlery company focusing on quality and I hope we will be hearing more form others as their knives hit the streets.

I just read about them recently in Knife World. I am curious to know how are the prices compared to say Case and Queen and others?

The retail price is quite in line with the market to the high quality. For example, retail on a pearl physicians pattern in D2 with NS bolsters and liners was 120.00 (I have a feeling that street and net prices will be very close to retail since they will not be going through distributors at this time.)

i heard that they are made by queen and finished by them, and as time goes by the will actually make the knives themselves.

They use D2 steels, so I believe the info to be true.

Per discussions on the other forum, the parts are made by queen and probably others. The knives are assembled and finished by canal street. It will be awhile before or if they make their own blades. Right now they are queen products assembled by former schrade workers. I think their price point, compared to the same queen product, is dependent upon some level of collector value.

I bought one of their first issue sets- fixed blade and folder. I'm real happy with the quality and hope they do well.
I don't know that I'll make it a priority to buy everything they make but their stuff I've seen is nice.
