Once again the generosity of this forum is astounding. Mike recognized my penchant for world coins and contacted me and asked that I email him with my address. Well these wonderful examples of the kindness that is so common in our little sub-forum here on BladeForums just showed up yesterday. I thought to myself this is like candy from Israel. And then thought of the old Jewish tradition of giving coins and candy to children so that they would learn/taste the sweetness of learning. The tradition has evolved over the years, since the 17th century, into what most know as Hanukkah gelt, gold and silver coins filled with dark and white chocolate, given to children on Hanukkah.

Thank you, Mike!! I will think of you each time I look at these coins and especially the ones with the Menorah on them. These coins show a menorah with 6 branches not 9 as on the Hanukkah menorah. This menorah ( 6 branched ) represents symbolically the Tree of Life with its four worlds and three pillars.

May each of us remember to ride the pillar of Equilibrium to Keter.

Very nice gesture Mike. There seems to be a connexion between Traditional knives and coin collecting.

When I was a youngster I had quite an interest in numismatics, especially for coins from around the world. Coins can be items of great beauty, ancient ones particularly. I especially like that Israeli coin with the Lion on it. Reminds me Irish coins pre 1970 which had very beautiful representations of animals&birds: Bull, Hare,Salmon etc.

Regards, Will

This is a great read, I consider BOTH of these gentleman to be right up there in the top blokes of this forum - and that's a big thing to say!
Well done Mike, and Gevonich - well deserved.

He brings our knives and other stuff
Then he stops to have a smooaaake
He shoves my mail in the neighbours box
He's not the quickest bloke.

Good observation Will there is a definite connection-
Meakins second Law of collecting states: The number of knives in a collection is inversely proportional to the number of coin in the pocket.

awesome.

I love to see threads like these.

Mike...thanks again my friend!! I will have something special coming your way as soon as I get a chance to make it;)

Thanks for all the sentiments everyone! Mike is a true gentleman:thumbup:

I will be looking for that Honda step through!! I know the postman takes a long time from so far away...I'm a patient man. The song...I listened to a few and I can't guess?

Free free to post some of what you speak. I would love to see some of your collection.

Mike, you are a great guy! The coins are as well as nice and sweet as the knife.

Gev - I´m sure, you´ll love that gifts. I´m looking forward seeing more pics of that neat knife.

My apologies to Mel Brooks and Frankie Laine.( Blazing Saddles)
It was a spur of the moment thing.
I actually saw him today and took the letters from his hand as he majestically rode past with out even stopping.
He is magnificent.

Fantastic stuff all around!

(If you get a chance, I'd love to see a shot of the flip side of those coins.)
