Pretty knife. Years produced, anyone? Handle material? Original sheath?
New here more or less. Nice forum.

So far all we have are guesses at the manufacturing dates on these knives. Being stamped Schrade Walden makes them basically pre-1973 and post 1946. And just judging from the colorful style and the patterns used, I'd have to guess early to mid 1960's. Most of these patternswere made with wood or leather handles as far back as the early/mid 1950's. But a guess it all it is. No distinct model numbers have been found on the knives, nor any factory complete packaging or advertisements, and they do not appear in our production catalogs, so this is the best we can do at the moment.

Here are my two "whenzits".I've been trying for months to track dates on either with no luck. The 147 style,Candy stripe, is unmarked as to model number. The licorice is marked Schrade-Walden 148.I've seen several of the candy stripes on Ebay but I haven't seen another licorice. If anyone else has one I'd like to know.I didn't get paperwork or sheaths with either.Arnold

I thought I'd ask this again.Does anyone have a dateable 147 or 148.I have several of each, that have different tang stamps, and spacer colors.I would like to narrow them down as to age. Thanks Arnold

The 147 pattern appeared in 1953, and the 148 in 1954. Beyond that, I haven't seen enough of them NIB to document the tangstamp differences, or when the fancy stripe handles appeared. I too would be interested in boxed originals with papers, or even dated advertisements for them.

Thanks Pam.I think that one of the things that got me started collecting Schrades is just when you think you've got things figured out another style pops up.It keeps things interesting.Arnold
