Hey guys, I'm a younger guy (25), and I've recently been suffering from pretty bad back pain stemming from an incident that happened a few years ago. I am in no way out of shape but it has been difficult for me to get out of bed, get up from chairs and walk long distances. My question to you guys is, is there a quality, stylish walking stick or cane (I prefer not to have pistol grips) that you know of? I know Cold Steels marketing tactics are a bit over the top, but I went ahead and ordered a city stick but I would like to have a few more to mix it up. Thanks for any and all advise!

I was also going to suggest Cane Masters. Or, a nice staff that you cut and work up yourself can also be a great option. I have many that I have cut from locations over the years, takes a while though.

Cold Steel also used to sell staffs which I would consider. I think they are a great option if you don't like the Cane Master route.

I would get a "normal" item. Not something that looks like a weapon as I see little gain to some heavy skull nob on it except to draw attention to yourself.

One you make yourself will be cheap but durable and personal. may I suggest, scavenging an old broken shovel handle and sanding it well then a polyurethane finish. nothing beats it (cept you on a guys head) and it doesn't look too weapon like.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll definetly check them out. As far as making my own, it would kind of defeat the purpose of me needing a cane, as my back is in too much pain to walk let alone fashion my own.

I need a cane and have a good collection. I had a City Stick which I do recommend. It is well balanced, so it swings along with you. A bit elegant for me. :)

Similar size and shape but more casual are the Mendowood canes, a lot of different styles.

What I actually use are my Canemasters. The big crook top gives much better support than a knob top, and if I need both hands free, I can hook it over my arm. They also carry more styles than just the combat canes, which you can get without the grips cut in.

I use to have a canemaster cane( great, sturdy product) but my brother needed it more so I lent it to him. That was 3 years ago I dout I get it back.

Canemasters are top notch.
I know what your going thru. Stretch, strengthen and keep moving.

i would say get a crook style cane honestly the best mix of features... easy to toss over your arm , or on the back of a chair.... get a few boxes of tips.... i was stuck using a cane for 13 years.... then got a hip surgery and eventualy lost my cane.... happy day , but im sure ill be back to using one sooner or later.... my fav cane i picked up at a local mill house.... it was cheap sturdy and well made...

I have a Cold Steel Walkabout walking stick. Its not a crook top cane
that has been mentioned before but it might be worth looking at. There is
a stronger stick made now, Walkabout XL this replaced the original Walkabout.
