 :D thats wicked, Dave!
How interesting that I've thought of something pretty similar before... I look forward to seeing a direct fromt he side pic, that shows the curve better, but I think its like the thing I've imagined before... something that improves the effectiveness of the part of the tanto that Mick Strider(IIRC) calls the "triangle of death", where one angle changes into another, and makes that well, triangle... which can do a lot of damage if utilixed properly... I think a design such as this would definatly help to increase the effectiveness of that part of the blade, not to mention the rest of the blade itself.

Excellent design, and excellent execution of that design. Great work! :D

As promised, here's side on and sheath...

It is nice stuff...I got it from Sheffield's. This is 3/16" stock and I've got 1/8" for the folders.

Oooh ooh ooh, I love that angle ;) .

Satin, here's the short story on the design:

Keep in mind, I am not trained nor am I well read on battle blades or knife combat. All my ideas were basically transposed from features I've seen or read about on other knives.

I basically wanted a hookbill blade that could grab and pull, so I thought I'd angle the blade down with a slight recurve. One thing I dislike about hawkbills is they're so unstabby. So I decided to give it a tanto point, which works well with the rest of it.

There are plenty examples of this blade shape (Ryan's Model 1, Joel Pirela's Vector, etc.), but I wanted to see it in a big fixed blade. Who ya gonna call?

The rest is Dav's doing. His wide blade, his lanyard holes, finish, grooved handles, and his FREAKIN' BADASS GRIND(!). The original grind was flat to the tip. Hell, he even modified the overall shape, and I like it better!

That, my friends, is the difference between drawing pictures and actually getting off your ass and making it. It's practically a different knife, and I never woulda thunk of the gorgeous beast he churned out...

Can you tell I like it? Can you tell? :P

You guys work well together, it shows!
It's really great to see your sketches 'come alive'

I've got to say I'm not a fan of camo on knives or painted blades in general...

BUT!

That is the best knife camo job!
Texturing/grooving the scales really breaks up the knife shape. Innovative even :)

Don't loose it!
;)
