Hi!
The pictures show a couple of examples of canister welding, that I am working on.
The large, forged to shape, blade at the top of the photo, is a 256 layer feather pattern billet.
The distal taper and all the relative angles were forged into the blade. The edges have been ground off to even them up.
The second two, comprise a hunting set; They started life as 1 1/4 inch 1080, 7 strand cable.
Three inch sections of the cable are placed inside a stainless tube and the voids filled with 1084/4600kc powder.
Caps are welded on both ends of the tub to seal out the oxygen and the tube is then pressed and drawn to shape.
I am happy to answer your questions, Fred
For reference, the large blade is 8 1/4 inches, shoulders to tip.
