Cannot communicate with other members

Hello, I am having an issue with sending and receiving emails. I am not able to.

I thought many members were just rude and would not reply or sell to me. I would send an email to someone with an offer to buy their item in the for sale section only to see the item sell to someone else and no reply to my message. This has happened about three times. The only way that I am able to contact someone is through a comment post. Recently yesterday, I decided to actually comment "Email sent" and the next day I checked back to see that he commented back "I did not receive your email" and he sold it to someone else and then closed the thread. Needless to say that I was frustrated that the thread was closed as that seems to be my only way of communicating. Until recently I thought that I had a smell or something and thats why people wouldn't reply to me haha. At least I don't feel crazy anymore, but bottom line is that the email function doesn't work for me. I checked my settings and my email is correct, I cannot find any other settings that would suggest that I have the email function off. PM also doesn't work, it says that I do not have permission. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Post a comment here because if you email me I will most likely not receive it.

Pm's are only available for paid members. I've had issues with the email system here as well, I had some go to my spam and some that just never showed up, but it seemed to be working fine for me recently. Commenting in the thread to let the seller know you sent the email is always a good idea. The only other suggestion I have is to leave them a visitor message on their profile. You could give them you're email address there a little more discretely than in one of the sales threads.

Glad to see you were able to get a thread started here, sorry I was not able to do more and solve your issues.

As far as contacting sellers, let them know in their thread that you are sending a VM and you can give them your email address through the VM and have them contact you offline. They can delete the VM immediately after that so your email is not exposed as much.

Alright, wish there was a better way to communicate without a credit card

There is a better way, buy a membership and get private messages. Then you can also sell the knives you are no longer interested in as well.

There is, Paypal. Unfortunately running a forum this size costs money in bandwidth, storage, upkeep, maintenance, and tech support. Best what is to decide if a membership is for you or not, gold is the best way to go IMO. It helps keep this place open and you can buy, sell, trade, and send PMs. Better is a very subjective term, but at least the Exchange is open to the public.
