Hey guys,

New here but thought this would be a great place to ask. I have been deciding between two folders to EDC for over a month now, and, making no real progress, I decided to buy them both and look at them hands-on and then return the one that I wasn't going to keep. They both arrived today and I still cannot decide between them, so I need you guys to help me decide. The one on the top is a Doug Ritter Mini-RSK Mk1 (Benchmade Mini Griptilian) and on the bottom is a Spyderco Junior. Please try to provide reasons when choosing one or the other.

Thanks

This is very subjective, since they both cut stuff and both fit in your pocket. :) Either would be awesome for EDC, and both manufacturers have reps for excellent customer service. If you were going to give me one, I don't know which I would take either. I'm a Spydie guy, but I would probably go with the Ritter mini grip as its more of a standard design and a little less "funky" than the Junior. But I do love Spyderco, and the deep wire clip and scale design of the Junior. But the mini grip is a well-regarded design, I like the blade finish and I would probably go with that one. But you just gotta pick what you like, and rock on.

Throw both at a wall and keep the one that sticks!

(There is no right or wrong choice.)

Having owned several, I can vouch for the mini-Ritter. It's a tough SOB. Nothing but business there... not fancy, but it'll hold its own with a lot of more expensive knives. Can't help you with the Dialex Jr except to say that based on looks alone, the mini-Ritter would be my choice every time.

Thanks everyone for their input so far. I still don't know yet but I have two questions:
1. Do you think that one knife would be more "people friendly" than the other? Meaning if I took it out in public, which would scare less people.
2. How easly/impossible is it to change out the blade on the ritter/mini grip and if it is possible, is there anywhere I could buy just the blade to a 555HG?

Thanks

I say take the path less travelled and stick with the Spyderco Junior! Such a great 'little big knife' and one helluva cutter--it's all belly, baby! It took me a while to get used to it, but it's fast becoming one of my faves. The more I use it, the more I like it.

For the record, I don't own a mini-Grip and never handled one--never really had the inclination. I dig the blade-shape of the Ritter though, and if you were to throw some custom scales on it, the decision would be a lot tougher. I will say, however, that the mini-Grip doesn't look as 'weird' as the Junior and may consequently be perceived as more 'friendly' to the masses.

Whichever you choose, you'll end up owning a nice knife... Good luck, OP! :)

which would scare less people

We can't allow hysterical, fat, divorced women to dictate what we carry. If you want to fly below the radar, put a Victorinox Classic on your keys and use it in public. I've done this for a good while now, and no one gives that teeny 1" blade a second look.

I have the Ritter,I really like it, is easy to carry and I love the blade design

The Junior,I don't have, but I did handle one and It felt odd in the hand, a little blade heavy, but I think a person could get used to it.

I would get the Ritter and it's probably more people friendly(the Junior blade has some nice bling to it )
