Hey guys...

I aquired a boat a couple weeks ago and thought a canoe might be a nice addition to the package. Wondering what brands are here to stay, and what models I'd be ok buying used...

I'm not looking for anything hi-tech just something I wont have to worry about... hopefully UV protected because it would be stored exposed to the sun.

Just thinking something to scoot around in the rivers and lakes!

Dont think "sea going canoes" are in my price range... Take cheap, cut it in half then subtract 20 bucks!

I'm happy with Old Town.I've used them from the Yukon River to local streams.Mine I bought "used", most people hardly use theirs so a "used" one is nothing more than a "new"one that has floated on flat water a couple times...

Kinda figured that... not many people "use" there sports equipment...

I'm thinking I'll want a "FLAT" bottom on it so I can clean the sides of the boat at the waterline...

Old Towns are great canoes and I would love to have one sometime.
But when you think cheap, around here anyway that means Coleman. But they are rugged. (At the expense of a bit of weight.)I am thinking you can find a brand new Coleman for a bit over $300.00 and a used one if you watch the paper close for between $100.00 and $200.00. And like mentioned many barely used. We do have the coleman factory here it Wichita so maybe that makes a difference on pricing.

I do love gliding through coves and creeks on a nice early spring morning with the fog over the water.

Mad River is also a good brand.

If you have white water guides near you by chance their year end sales are usually very good (all of the tourist have already paid for the canoes).
