I'm a huge fan of a spear blade with a long pull and swedge (like GEC EZ Open Jacks). But I really like the handle shape of the canoe. Does anyone have any suggestions of a canoe with a long pull on the main blade and possible a swedge?

I know Queen made one in collaboration with Joe Pardue that fits your bill. I don't know if it is curently in production. There is a the CASE gunboat, but I don't recall swedges. There are old EYE brands and Obertz made canoes from long ago that have the long pulls on them. And to test out the pattern, Rough Rider offers a few models exactly as you described.

I am sure there are others.

I have one of those Colt canoes and it is very well made. I like it. Here's a picture of mine:

I have one also, I liked the scales, did yours come in a really nice felt box with magnetic flap?

Yes, it did. Best regular production knife box I can remember getting with the exception of the Gerber Paul box I got years ago. Case has put out some nice boxes but the knives in them are over $100. I think I paid $23 shipped for my Colt. A bargain for sure.

Thanks for the replies, I'll check out the Colt. TLARbb, if I could get my hands on a Mutz Canoe like yours I would forget about the long pull!

I found the Case Baby Butterbean and it seems like exactly what I'm looking for, but do they only have the "baby" version no full sized? They seem pretty rare too...

I remember mine being short money, quality is nice for the price, if I remember it's 420HC, has not seen any real pocket time, but if the TOTM is a canoe I'll carry it.

The Colt's are 440-A, made in the same factory as the Rough Riders-- good stuff.

Case produces limited runs with long pulls and swedges in their 'Case XX Select' line. Basically, these are standard Case models & materials, but with additional enhancements & embellishments, like special tang stamps & shields. They made a 'Select' version of the Canoe (pattern 62131 SSM) back around 2000 or so. It features the long pull on the main spear blade, and also swedging.

This pic is from a completed auction listing on the 'auction site'. That might be one place to look for a few of these still floating around.
