Does anyone know how many different Canoe's Buck has done? I
saw it in the cataloge last year 08 and this year 09. Is it a new model
for the Buck line?

Hawk,

The Buck 389 Canoe has also been done in (white) poly-pearl and black poly-pearl.

Best - Joe

O.K. wood,white and black poly-pearl. Thanks guys.

That's the only two I know of Jeff. I would have bought one of those white China doll knives...but, the Walmarts out west never had them:(. Now if they put one out with a stag handle....well, all I'd say is SOLD!!!

Thanks Ratty,

BPS still has them for under $20 clams. So I just had a set like that sent my way. I'll let you know what I think of the white China doll and her tooth pick of a freind in a few days Jeff.

I still think it is interesting that it says 2008 Collector Edition, being in a clammie and all :cool:

I just found out about the Black Pearl and am waiting for two canoes, two tiny toothpicks and a trapper.

Camillus has some canoes you can get for a decent price. As far as I'm concerned, the stuff from their "Final Auction", is garbage.

Hi Jeff,

The Canoe and Toothpick came today. Two buck knives for under $20 not a bad deal, hope Buck brings the overseas slippy work home.

Here are my comments:
The action on both knives are fine and the blades are sharp and grind lines are true. The poly scale on one side of the canoe could have been fit better to one of the bolsters, as I can fit my thumbnail into the gap. This is my only issue with this knife, if I were not a picky collector it would most likely no even be noticed, for the price it's a nice knife.

The Toothpick's scale fit is perfect. However, I see day light between one of the scales and the frame (because there is only glue on the blade pivot end of that scale). This scale is going to fail and fall off in time. I know Buck would make it right. But, it's not worth the cost of shipping to send this knife in for repair or replacement. This knife was in a blister pack so no one could inspect this knife at the store for quality issues prior to purchase...Buck needs to call their China QC department.

The Canoe is just the right size for a pocket folder, I'm not into tiny pocket knives and the Canoe is not tiny. It will make a good gentleman knife for times when sheeples get in the way of my normal EDC knives. The Toothpick is a tiny little folder that will see desk duty and little else from me.
