What does a canoe look like in the open position? I have not been able to find a picture of an open canoe, one that is ready to use. All the pics I've seen have the blades folded into the handle or half open.

Thanks.

here's one (bottom one)

Here is on old Cargill Canoe with the blades in the upright position..

And an Eye Brand with the classic blades in a slightly different pose.

Perfect! Are the Case and Queen prototypical canoes? I like them much better than the canted blade of the Eye Brand knife.

Thomason, is that one of the Queen classics? The 1095 canoes is the exact one that I've been checking out. How do you like yours? Does it take a good edge? How is the fit and finish? Does it use one spring or two? I have trouble placing an order, I can't decide between the strawberry, crimson, or green bone.

Sunnyd - I like that Cargill! Very nice!! Does it have one or two springs? (TIA)

No complaints at all, they are nice knives. If it is a canoe you want, I'll bet you will be pleased with this version by Queen

Here is one I have lusted after for years but never have got around to ordering one. Maker is Murray Sterling out of Mount Airy, NC.

Certainly not as nice as the Cargill canoe, but I'm proud of it! I hunted for a long time to find it...

Wow Nukemkb, what a beauty!. Very nice looking knife. Looks like a Queen, though I cannot quite make out the tang stamp. Love that unique shield as well. Are those yellow bone scales?

It is (Standard Knife Co.) from Bluegrass Cutlery... Yes - yellow bone. The manufacturer seems to have taken it to heart with the term 'spear' blade!:D
thank you for the kind remarks!

Not fully open, but here are a few to chicken-eye! Note the 1095's with the acorn shields. I carry the strawberry one frequently; love its traditional redbone look!! Good canoes have sunk joints, so are a smooth pocket carry!!

Mmmmm...that yellow bone is JUICEY!:cool:

MMMM.. Juicy is right!. Those scales look like exactly like the ones I have got on a Sowbelly I acquired some time ago. Also a Queen made knife under a different contracter, by Moore Maker. As I recall, I kept referring to those scales as "lemony fresh yellow".. So Kerry was right on the mark.:D
