I got some V-moda Crossfade LP headphones (Nero edition) last xmas and I was just wandering what kind of headphones everyone owns.

Sony MDR-NC40, low-price noise reduction headphones for international airline travel.

i have been harping about these to all my friends for months now:

Howard Leight Noise blocking earmuffs.

OK so i'm not an audio snob or anything, and i certainly cannot differentiate between high quality sound and average quality sound - i've never own headphones that cost more than $40.

but these earmuffs are the BOMB. i love them. sound is ok. i checked the sound quality here:

http://www.audiocheck.net/soundtests_headphones.php

i could hear a lot of range in those tests. i dunno how well that proves their audio quality.

but they do block out a ton of ambient noise. i wear them on busrides, international flights, and in noisy computer labs full of undergrads. i put them on and i'm in my own private world. plus, i can double up the use on a gun range, i suppose.

srsly though, $22, it's the best $22 i ever spent. peace and quiet and the sound is ok. plus they are durable. they look goofy though but i don't care. and when you buy them, you should also buy some higher quality, longer, 3.5mm audio cable bc the ones it comes with sucks horribly.

for many months i've been contemplating the idea of buying some broken grado's on ebay and "implanting" them into gunmuffs for the similar effect. but these suit the bill ok too.

V-Moda FTW! I'm wearing my Crossfades right now. I've worn everything from Beats to Sennheiser to Bose, and while many sets can compare, nothing is really any better. The 50% off your next pair if you break them thing is awesome too, although after a year mine still look, feel and most importantly sound new.

I've been a fan of IEM for a while but recently got a pair of on-ears, the Klipsch image ones. They're awesome! I'm also a V-moda fan and plan on getting a pair of LPs or M80s soon. I've had the pair of V-moda in-ears in the pic for almost two years and they've held up great. They even survived a cycle through the washer!

I used to be way into headphones. Most of the enthusiast/audiophile grade headphones required a dedicated head phone amp, so I had a custom amp built for me for that reason. Still have it. I used to own the Beyerdynamic DT 770 back 280 ohm (or maybe it was 250 ohm). Beyerdynamic is a German brand. My musical tastes were rock/metal/r&b/hip-hop/trance, so basically stuff that had bass in it. The Beyerdynamics are known to be quite visceral. I have since gotten rid of them, but my brother still has a pair of Sony MDR SA5000, which are discontinued but were even more high end than my 300 dollar pair of Beyerdynamics. The Sony's are Japanese quality Sony stuff, not the crappy "other" Asian country stuff you can find at Walmart or Bestbuy. I gave up a little bit of accuracy in sound production for a bit more bass when I had the DT 770. The SA5000s are known for accuracy, meaning if your source is so pure, the headphones will reveal all the flaws.
