This weekend placed a order for a new air rifle online to replace my old RWS That's had it got a email telling me they can't ship to the city I live in and sure enough checked the law was changed . I had no idea when I got the RWS 20 some years ago positive got it through mail order (That's how we ordered stuff before the internet) Anybody else have this happen?

Can you have it ordered to a local gun store, or have someone whom you trust in a different city or state and ship or drive it to you? That sounds like a pain in the butt though! I went to NJ to babysit my cousin, and state law says you can't own a slingshot (they didn't sell slingshot bands at the store i went to so i asked and they explained), and you need a permit for a BB/pellet gun. a Group of mischievous kids ruined it for everyone.

What city ? Maybe an issue with that... Who's the seller ? I would think they could help, but you may have to have it shipped elsewhere... which is a pain !

Yea that's what the vendor told me might have to consider shipping it elsewhere. But I didn't even know they we're illegal here now not that I plan on breaking any laws. But I can buy a shotgun in the town I work no problem and I can have it in my house but not a airgun. Yes I tried having it shipped to my work but was told it's in the same county a no go. From what I gather my state has a limit on how FPS A airgun can be? Times they have changed

Your old RWS is probably better than most air rifles made today, except for the other German made Weihrauchs or Beeman branded ones... springs and seals and new lubes can be purchased... not too hard to repair.

Or do you just want another air rifle ? I know that feeling !

I wonder if you send the gun out for a supertune if it will be able to be sent back via the person who tuned it. Might be a good choice instead of a new gun.

Michigan (my home state) has a law about shipping Airguns ,you have to have them shipped to your FFL/dealer.

The vendor told me the same thing about the FFL. The RWS is done doubt it can be fixed had a great run but it's done. Not a purchase thought I was gonna have to worry about.

Illinois.....figures.

Hope you can find a way around that, but we all know air rifles love killing people so...

In the U.K. dealers will not post to your home .P.I.A got to travel a good distance for ftf deal.

On an interesting note a local (about 23 min away from me) was accidentally shot in the back at close range by a high power air rifle and died before reaching the hospital as a result. I believe it grazed his spine and then punctured his lung ,pretty sad story really.

What did you want to replace it with? Rws 34 ,350, 460.
Darn I have a lnib air arms tx 200 mk3 .177 that I was going to sell, with a hawk air max 3 12 40 with bkl mounts.
I can't shoot it , just sitting in a gun case.

I ordered a Refurbished Crosman Nitro Venom wanted to try out a Nitro Piston rifle plus the price was right only shoot in my basement on weekends and mostly in the winter when I have nothing better to do . Could have it sent to my uncle but if I know him by the time I get up there to get it he will have broken it .

That is a sad story I myself have been the victim of stupid people when I was 16 or 17 can't remember which one of idiot friends shot me in the finger with a co2 pistol was in the hospital for a week needless to say I am a very careful shooter now .

Too bad. But trying to circumvent the law can prove worse than just living with what you got. Why not order a Crosman 1377 and then get the shoulder stock, hop up kit, long barrel and steel breach. You should be able to get that into your county, or just take a trip into wisconsin and buy what you want. Its only 2 hours away anyways.

My understanding re: Chicago's rules on this - there is a limit both on the total FPS, and caliber. If you have a FOID, you can have it ordered through an FFL and pick it up from them in person. You can own the airgun (regardless of caliber and FPS) with your FOID, just not without.

I shoot my hw 45 pistol with a 2-20 edge scope in my garage, around 20 or so feet at targets, also browning 800 mag.
A Rifle, I think are to powerful at this range, gets a lil dangerous.
