I've got a 110 which I love but I'd like something a bit smaller but along the same lines . Please could someone post a size comparison photo of a Ranger , 55 , Prince and Squire against a 110 .

Thanks

Dunc

Here you go Dunc. Sorry, the stag model 503 is the only one I have handy.

Top to Bottom: 110, 112, 501 Squire, 503 Prince, 55.

Thank you , that's really helpful. I think the 55 will suit my needs. The trouble is they all look so nice :D

Boy those all are nice. I never really gave the 112 a look before.

The 55 is a great little pocket knife: I like how it looks, feels and functions. Thanks to Plumberdv's photo, I see that I'm going to have to pick up a Squire at some point. ...And a Prince. An'...an' a 112. An' another $1.55. And probably a 110... :p

This reminded me how much I want a 112.
Not sure I've ever seen the 55 before. Nice looking little knife.

The 55 is a classy looking little guy although a bit small for my taste. Many call it a "mini-110" but it's really a "mini-111".

That all depends on your usage. The 501 is my favorite and personally I don't care for anything smaller than a 501 which has a 2.75" blade.
For me the 112 is larger than I want for pocket carry, but if it was slimmed down the way sitflyer has been doing it might be pretty good.
It would then be similar to size of the 500 and the 532 which to me are the biggest I want for pocket carrying.

I like the 112 better than the 55. Yes, the 55 is nice and small, but of the two I've purchased, neither have been up to the fit and finish of the four 112' I've purchased. Maybe luck of the draw, but the 112 is just a nice, solid knife. It is a bit heavy. The leather sheath of the 112 is nice IMO.

Well Half Cut Skele,
Here is another shot of the 55 for your enjoyment. To get one of them you will need to join the BCCI;)

Well I went with the 55 in the end and I have no regrets , my 110 is just too big to edc but does see use at home but the little 55 is going lots of places with me :D
Mabe a 112 FG next

Dunc5,

I have an old Schrade 5OT about the same size as your new 55. I've given a 501 as a gift so am familiar with that knife too. Here's my take:

55/501 - People friendly pocket knifes capable of most daily tasks.

110 - People scary folding fixed blade replacement. I love knives in this range and prefer them when out in the woods and people won't freak out. If you dig the size of the 110 but want a lighter package, might consider the Ecolite 110.

112/500 - People acceptable. More off-putting to citizens than the smaller 55/501s but capable of doing more. Much more pocketable than their bigger brother 110. Again, don't forget about the Ecolite 112 as a lighter option.

Gratuitous soapbox... Buck should make the Ecolite 112 with a drop point blade. They really should.

These picks are very helpful. I am looking to order my first Buck in many years. I can see why the Buck crowd has such a strong following!
