Can't decide on first CRK, should I go Sebenza 21 or 25?

Hey guys, I'm going to be in the market for my first CRK fairly soon and I really want it to be a Sebenza, I just can't decide which one. They both have their ups and downs and I just can't seem to pick one over the other, and no unfortunately I cannot get both.

I think that the main thing I want to know is, is there really much difference in day to day performance between the two? Keep in mind I'm not military/leo/anyone who professionally might have to hard use their knife, just a dude who likes carrying a pocket knife and uses it for normal pocket knife tasks.

Thanks.

quick edit: Just for clarification I am between the Large 21 and the 25, the small 21 is just not for me :)

In my humble opinion a small Sebenza 21 is a pretty good place to start. That's where my collection began and that variety still gets the most pocket time.

I can't speak about the 25, but the 21 is a great knife! I enjoy it a lot and have no reason to get the 25 just yet. You can find a good condition 21 on the exchange and save some money. If you don't like it, then you can sell it for minimal loss and then get the 25.

Thanks for the feedback guys, please keep it coming!

I am leaning toward the 21, btw the Large 21 is actually the one I'm looking at, smaller knives just feel a bit awkward in my hand. The thing I think about most is the blade grind, I really don't have much experience with hollow grinds, I don't know how well they perform on regular tasks which often include cutting things open or slicing. Also I worry that the hollow grind is more delicate than the hybrid hollow/flat grind they use on the 25.

25 or Wilson 21 oh heck find a regular large and be done with it;)

I am an electrician and use my Micarta large 21 daily for my work. You cannot damage this knife. I have yet to do anything other than dull it after about a year of pocket time. If you are like me, and are always looking for cutting tasks, the larger blade is better for fruit, etc, though takes up more pocket. The 21 hollow grind is beautiful and nice to fondle, but not as good for cutting an apple (which is why kitchen knives are almost all flat-ground). The Sebenza 21 maybe makes up for this by having a slimmer blade than the 25. All I truly know is that since getting my 21, my spydercos languish. I even relegated my Spyderco Sage to rumbling around in the bottom of my tool bag as my gritty back up blade. Its got a nice 'screwdriver wash finish on it now.

Hi Hazy,

you'll be fine with either.
I would choose a 21 for collecting (more options) and the 25 as a user.

Best
Peter

Again guys thanks so much for the feedback. As much as I want to try the 25 I think the 21 is going to come first, which I think is what I wanted all along. The 25 seems awesome but has too many little things I don't like (why is that half circle cut out of the spine?!). Also the ergos on the 25 leave me a bit iffy, definitely the type of knife I would rather hold before purchasing.

Awesome feedback everyone, can't wait until I can post a pick of my brand new CRK :)

You know what I did when trying to choose? I put a picture of the 21 and the 25 next to each other (on the computer screen) and imagined they were both on a table in front of me. Now grab one. That's the one you should buy. Place the order and enjoy all that is the sebenza. Don't forget to post a pic when it lands- so, you know, we can see what you got!

I would go with the 25. I love mine! It does great for any cutting tasks.
The feel and the lockup feels more solid to me. I prefer the bigger pivot.
It opens smooth! Fits in the hand nicely. More of a stout blade.

The 21 is a great knife. The 25 is the greatest production knife I have ever owned, carried or handled. I highly recommend the 25.

Loving my 25. Been carrying it everyday! Very smooth.
My only complaint is that I can't get it centered
