cant decide what knife for everyday carry

You might go through a half dozen knives till you find that "ONE" that feels right for your needs. I carry a Kershaw Mini
Random Task, it is a speed safe that apparently was put together correctly the 1st time. It has been flawless for an obscenely long time now. Buy them both and if one isn't what you want sell it, someone will buy it.

I like them both. I wear a size 8 glove so they both fit my hand well. Comfort for extended cutting goes to the mini grip for me since the handles are a little more filling than the flat Delica. I've carried a Delica as my only knife owned for a while before joining blade forums. It was fine then, fine now. After owning both for a few years now I prefer the mini grip for a small edc knife. I love Spyderco knives but prefer a more narrow blade vs. one with a thumb hole hump on the back. It forces my thumb in awkward positions when choking up on the blade.

Both are great knives, I figure you could get one and then buy the second one later. The mini-grip will take a little bit more abuse than the delica, but the Delica is a great edc. Start with the Delica I would say then buy the mini-grip.

ask yourself what you will be using the knife for.if you are basically going to walk around with something in your pocket that you might need to cut a piece of string once in a while, don't waste your money on anything expensive.

I have had the Kershaw leek ever since it came out. the only thing I swap it out for was another leek because I lost it. it is a quick opener and it can always shave my arm. it is so thin I cant feel it in my pocket and that is probably why I always check to see if it is there.

I'm thinking about getting the spyderco salt 1 and the benchmade mini grip but what steel would be best?

After trying many different knives trying to find that one that is best to carry, I now carry a Talon knife everywhere and a yojimbo 2 as a back-up.

The Delica and Mini-Grip are among my top EDC knives. Just to muddy the waters a bit more, I'd also suggest looking at the Kershaw Leek (namely the composite blade version).

The ergos on the Delica are great. It has a longer handle, allowing for a comfortable 4-finger grip (at least for me), and the thumb ramp is nice for steadying the blade if your cutting task needs a bit more precision. The Mini-Grip has the Axis Lock, which is very strong and very addictive to flip open and shut. The Leek is so slim and thin that you don't even notice it in pocket.

In terms of cutting performance, all three are excellent. The composite blade Leek (CPM-D2 cutting edge) feels like it holds its edge a little better than the default steels for the Delica (VG-10) and Mini-Grip (154CM). The Mini-Grip does have other steel options (S30V and D2, among others), and the Delica also comes in ZDP-189. There are also limited/sprint runs of all three in various other steels (Damascus, CPM-M4, SuperBlue, and others).

Some side-by-sides of the three...

Awesome pictures! I was wondering how the Delica and mini grip look side by side. I guess they are both on my list now :D

Which ever fits beter in hand and pocket in your opinion. I like to say to my friends that it we could have an agument over whether strawberry icecream tastes good but that would be senseless. Everyone has thier own prefrences.

Have you handled a mini griptilian? It's a solid folder for sure, but the mini is just too small for my hands, and I don't have large hands. I strongly recommend holding one before buying one. I like the Mini Barrage better (the 586 is my favorite sub-3" folder), and the Bone Collector Mini feels nice in the hand as well despite all three of these knives having similarly-sized blades. They are little more pricey, but are offered in higher grade steels. The Kershaw Skyline and 1550 are cheaper options with slightly cheaper (but still very good) steel than the mini grip. Just something to think about.

It depends on what you mean by the best. Do you want the best corrosion resistance? Best edge holding? Best toughness? 154cm and S30V are very close in performance and in actual use its unlikely you will notice any difference.

Talon makes a knife similar to the hideaway knife. They are out of canada and make a very nice affordable knife anyone can carry anywhere.

I had a delica gave to my father and just ordered a delica super blue sprint run. I have a mini grip and a leek also.

All are excellent, I think it comes down to a lot of personal preferences. I like the delica handle the most.

I like the assisted opening on the leek.

I like the lock system on the mini grip.

But for me and my uses , which are not much, I like the delica.
