Help! I cna;t decide whether to get the becker combat utility or the becker creman utility knife!! I just dont know which on eto pick! If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated!! Thanks

I have one of each, they're both great knives. The Crewman is better if you need a "compact" knife. It's easier to tuck away in your pack. If space or size is not an issue I'd go with the Combat Utility.

excellent, thank you! :D so they are basically the same, and only the length is the question? I personally think that the BK7 is alot nicer looking, with the Crewman being kind of stubby. Also, I prefer larger blades.

Another vote for the 7. I have a Campanion 7,9 & 10 in stock. The 10 (Crewman) is my least favourite of the range. I'm not particularly a big blade fan but I couldnt really see the need for the 10 when you consider the whopper scales.

...of either (or any blade for that matter) in your hand that would be the deciding factor.Needless to say a knife is the most deeply personal of hand tools and the "tool-to-man-fit" must be as close as an extension of your hand as possible. :)

I like the stubby look of the Crewman, I usually prefer compact knives. But you don't save that much weight from the 7 to the 10. Go to a store, handle them and go with your gut.

Deep down, like every knife-nut you know the right answer: Get them both!

I needed a new survival knife and could not decide which one either, so I bought them both. I immediately decided on the Crewman and relegated the BK7 to the truck. The tip on the BK10 looks to be a bit more sturdy (not that the BK7 is weak) and overall it's just a more convenient size. In hindsight I wish I had bought the BK9 or the Brute instead of the C/U but either one will serve you well. Outstanding knives for the money.

Regards, Vince

I own both, along with some other Beckers.
For carry and general camp/woods use I like the Crewman for three reasons:
1) The tip appears stronger
2) The shorter length makes it a little easier to sit down
3) I like a 5" blade for general outdoors use.

Doesn't mean I don't like the BK7 - it's a good one too. It has more of a clip w/ a thinner tip. I sharpened the clip on mine for the heck of it, now it's my "what if I'm in the woods and get in a knife fight" knife... which gives you some idea of the minimal use it's seen.

I don't think either is a bad choice, but I think the crewman is more practical for real world use.
