I can't figure out how to remove the axis bar on the 730. I've disassembled and taken off the omega springs. I've tried pulling and pliers (though I don't want to smush up or scratch the pieces).

Comrade,
One of those outside nut/washer things should be screwed on. Take a pair of pliers and grip one side, ( pad the jaws with thin leather or something ) Take another pair and do the same to the other side. Now twist one side while holding the other. The nut/washer thing should come off of one end. If this doesn't work, sell the knife and buy a Microtech. Hope this helps.

Artsig, I just traded a UDT for this guy, and I'm fairly happy with it. It just has some centering problems with it that I need to correct myself. I'm really sick of sending it to BM warranty service. Angie there is really nice, but the I've really had enough of having to pay like 12 dollars of round trip shipping to correct some factory inconsistancies. Something tell me that there is far more than .00005" for margin of error accepted by the QC department. Every single one of my Benchmades had a tiny problem. Recently I bought a MT SOCOM and it will be here next week.

Sorry, Glockman, but I've never been a big fan of folding knives with PLASTIC handles.

Geeze. It felt an awful lot like plastic!

If its that same stuff on my EZ-Out, I grew out of it. Zytel reminds me of when I was 12.
