Hello,

One of my best friends is getting married in 3 weeks and I told him I was getting him a Para2 as part of his wedding gift. He carried mine for a few days and fell in love with it, he was very excited that I was going to get him one. The problem is I told him this about 6 months ago when you could find a Para2 at just about any retailer. I looked on every knife web site I have used over the years and everyone is sold out. On Ebay they are going for almost $200 and I will not pay twice as much as they go for normally just because supply is down and demand is up. If anyone knows of any in stock please let me know. Its probably not going to happen so, other then the Manix2, what should I look to get him? He likes light weight folders with a 3-3.75 inch blade. I want to spend around $100. He doesn't like FRN scales or any kind of recurve in the blade. I want it to be an edc knife and not something fancy or flashy. If all else fails Ill just have to get him a gift card for the price of a Para2 and he can get it when its back in stock.

Thanks for any help,

Chris

The Para 2 is one of the hardest Spydercos to obtain right now, because there is a huge demand for them. You might end up paying $200 if you need one right now. If you can wait, you have to be at the ready when some come in stock, they usually sell out in an hour. I bought one about a month ago and I had waited about three or four months just to get the opportunity to buy that one! Best of luck, just keep your eyes open. Check the sales section on this forum and other big retailers, hopefully you can snag one at a decent price. Just be quick.

Then again, there's nothing wrong with a Manix 2. It's a great knife and it's actually available. It is somewhat similar to a Para 2, he would probably be happy with it.

Give him yours! No don't do that, unfortunately you probably won't find one in time. Seems like a Manix 2 may be your best bet with the time frame.

You will have to check some of the most common sites they come available multiple times per day. Some of the sites can be mentioned here because they are paid dealers but some of them are not. Some of the sites like BladeHQ among others also have the option to sign up to be emailed when they get more in stock and this feature works very good. Also make sure you check the exchange here on the forum like 30 times a day because they are up for sale quite often.

I agree with you 100 percent, the Manix 2 is amazing for the price. However that price has gone up up up, as everyone who can't find a Para2 is buying a Manix 2.

I've been looking for one for months. I check sites daily but have been unlucky so far. Buying plenty of other knives in the meantime though.

$185 is pretty steep though. I thought I paid too much when I got one for $155.

I agree with you but when your under a time crunch like he is he might just have to bite the bullet lol. I feel pretty good about getting mine for $85 about 2 years ago or so. :)

I found the camo handled version with both black and satin finished blades for $140 for the black and $145 for the satin after about 5 minutes of searching using Yahoo.

There are plenty of PM2's in the Exchange, but you'll pay about $150 for one ANIB in S30V...the more economical blade-steel.
