I have an M9 Phrobis III Buck 188> bayonet with a green handle and black blade. I also have the green Phrobis dolphin sheath.
One side says:
M9
PHROBIS III
U.S.A.
Pat. Pend
and the other says:
BUCK
188
U.S.A.>
I have not been able to find much info on this black version. I've seen it in the traditional blade, but not in black. Is this version something rare? Any help is appreciated!

Welcome to Blade Forums! Yes, like A Arathol said, it was a commercial version made in 1987. Post over in the Buck subforum, within Manufacturer Forums - there are some SUPER knowledgeable Buck fellas over there, maybe even including one of the guys who made it.

PS - we love pictures!

Thanks! I tried to post some photos, but could not figure that part out.

I'm not informed on the M-9 but I do know a bit about the Buck 184. The markings on the blade, shown in the pics, are consistent with the type of markings on Buck 184's in the late 1980's.
