Anyone know when these knives should start shipping again? I've been hypnotized by Brownies posts and Simona's photos into desperately wanting one of these.

I don't think you'll be disappointed when you get one. I had a guy look at mine at the club yesterday [ A RI State trooper friend from years ago ]. Soon as he held it, he wanted one. His comments were "solid, rugged, and feels good in the hand". I couldn't agree more.

Had a few pm's about the Persian over the last few months from others, they have purchased them and responded favorably, though one didn't like it initially, he has come over to the realization of the knifes ability.

Most have one negative response which has to do with the micarta scales being somewhat smoother than they need be making it a potential problem if your hands are sweaty, etc.

Once the knife is opened and in the hand for use, the ergonomics and grip shape are very secure however. I carry mine daily in conjunction with the Chinook2 or Spyder Perrin bowie.

There may be one thing I don't like about it, but there are too many things I do like about it not to carry it.

Order one from NGK now -- you won't be sorry. It's my favorite Spyderco so far.

Thanks for the tip. I checked out New Graham, and it appears to me that what they have in stock is the smaller 3" Persian, not the 3.5 inch "Ed Schempp Persian".

I think they just forgot to enter the ".5" when the entered the info... There's only one Spyderco Persian.

There is only 1 Spyderco Persian -- the Ed Schempp-designed one -- and that's what NGK sells. I got mine from them. It has a 3.5" blade. The site incorrectly lists it as 3". If you need more to convince you (I'd want more), call NGK -- they're very friendly and helpful over the phone. They'll confirm that the blade is stamped Ed Schempp and that it's 3.5".

The confusion may be that it has a 3" sharpened blade and is 3 1/2" from tip to bolsters.

Well, I finally ordered it. Thanks for your help, guys. I hope my wife doesn't really what it is when the package comes. ("ANOTHER KNIFE!!!") :)
