Can't get the knife I want.

I was ready to pull the trigger on a Sebenza but the one I had my eye on was out of stock when I called. This seems to be an issue as every time I see a model that catches my eye and it says in stock, I try to purchase it and am told it was just sold or out of stock.

I usually limit my knife purchases to be in the < $200 range and never had the desire to go for the custom or high ends. But I have always mulled purchasing a Sebenza just to have one. If I am going to spend this money I want to get something that appeals to me aesthetically. I don't mind spending a bit extra to that end on the models with unique graphics and blade material. But it is hard to get hold of anything I like. It seems like everything in stock is the Plain titanium or inlay models.

How do you guys get the custom graphic knives? By chance? Being in the right place at the right time? Pre-order?

Some of my favorite web sources will let you set up web updates when a particular knife comes in stock. However I've found that if you watch the sale forum even some of the most unique versions come through more frequently than you might think. You just have watch close be willing to pull the trigger at a moments notice.

Just be patient! I would expand your search to include the CRK classified section too.

The HUNT!! That's part of the fun. You just keep looking at all the forums and web sites. I think the hunt is half of the pleasure, but maybe I'm weird, well, different.

I liked this one. Unfortunately it is sold.

Totally agree with this. I spent months and months looking and waiting for the CRK pieces I wanted.

The hunt makes it totally satisfying and more special after you finally found and get that piece on hand...

I hesitated on a personal grail recently and lost it. To make things worse - they agreed to my counteroffer but it to me too long to accept. D'Oh!

Man sorry to hear this.. Wish it wasn't something pretty rare... So that you may again find one...

I decided to just get a plain model. I would like to see how the knife shapes up before spending a lot on a custom graphic. I ordered a insingo. I did extensive research on the knife and listened to reviews.

The blade style is what caught my eye. I have a griptilian modified sheepsfoot and it is the best slicer I own of all my knives. I enjoy the profile for edc. The insingo seems to have a more useful tip with semi sharpened swedge.

If it turns out to be a better slicer than the griptilian, it will probably replace it in my edc rotation. I will do a comparison review of the two knives in terms of utility and performance when I get the insingo. They both have very close blade profiles.
