I am working of finishing up a special project and realized that my oven won't fit the length of my blade. I am looking for a place to send it to that can do a good job with L6 and don't mind working with blades that have more then 2 edges ;)

L6 is a beautiful steel and if you have a tourch you can harden this stuff then use the same o/s torch to draw the temper down the back or the middle of a two sided blade. But L6 is a lot harder to get soft than it is to get hard and temper corectly. It will air harden to 61rc as I read ,and oil harden to around 63-65rc, read alittle about it and you'll do just fine on your own.

You might want to try Peters Heat Treating in PA. How long is it? There may be a 'smith here with a kiln or salt pot long enough to handle it who'd be willing to help.

it is 21" long. that includes the tang. man a salt bath would be great, o crap another project on my mind.

Let me sharing how L6 can perform.
We are developping Thai Swad now.
