When I try to leave positive feedback for a member, it says that I'm using an invalid thread. Can anyone help? The buyer said that he got the same error trying to leave me some feedback.

Haha, I was trying to figure this out this morning so here is how it goes:

First of all, you will either have to be the buyer or the seller of an item on the exchange AND must have left a message on the sales thread. Obviously as the seller your WTS post is the message but if your buyer contacted you via PM (start a conversation) without the "I'll take it" or whatever on the actual sales thread, then it is SOL and no feedback.

Thereafter, the sales thread can not be locked and if it is, you (if the seller) must unlock it and if you are the buyer and the seller has already locked it, he must unlock it in order to allow you to leave feedback.

Next, in the box with your avatar, your BFC moniker, your membership level and so on, you will see a link to leave feedback (in sales threads only) just under the new display of your current feedback.

If you don't know how to lock or unlock thread, feel free to ask :)

If people need help leaving feedback for a good transaction and the thread is locked, let us know we may be able to help. Remember, you MUST post in the thread, or participate for the feedback to be added.

Well, I was going to make a reference to that because technically any participant who is neither yhe buyer or the seller will still have the ability to leave a feedback. This is troubling because it can be misused for something fraudulent such as feedback packing or even more sinister, false negative feedback! Of course those who wish to engage in such nefarious acts will be taking big risks of getting banned from the site, but it would still take time for Admin to determine someone's innocence or guilt.

False negatives will get punished - I have a zero tolerance policy for this. False positives will also be punished but are harder to detect.

Just to be clear, I did not mean to suggest that such shenanigans were impossible under the old format but under the new format it is my humble opinion that someone, whether buyer or seller, with very thin skin and proclivity for becoming butthurt, can develop a fast negative feedback trigger finger. But such is the nature of feedback, whether here, eBay or anything else like Yelp!

That's fine, they are welcome to leave bad feedback for deals that didn't happen. They will also shortly get banned off the site (after the feedback is removed)

The bold text is not necessarily the case. The thread can be locked or unlocked for feedback to take place. Doesn't matter as long as the seller and buyer both posted in the thread.

The thread might need to be unlocked for someone to post in it but it can be locked or unlocked for the purpose of feedback.

Yes, it has been tuned up to what you have stated, since I made that post which was when BFC had just migrated to its serves and when it was still in the early Beta phase

Understood. I didn't realize that. The first time I had a feedback exchange after the migration was 3/9/17.

Was this a private deal or did you purchase from a publicly viewed ad? If it was an ad did you make a post in it?

It's pretty simple once you know how.
1st you have to have a post in the sales thread, or it won't work. It can be as brief as Thanks
you then need the short cut link to the thread
go to feedback fill in the link and the rest and you should be done

Feedback was simpler under the old software, which I think it was part of.
With the new software a step or 2 extra is needed to still use it.
