Hey all, so I have a Leatherman wingman. The scissors are fine, but the spring snaps out of place when I press down all the way and I wanted to try and take it apart and bend the spring over a bit so it wouldn't snap out of place. I searched on the forum for people with a similar problem. So far I sprayed it with wd40 and let it sit like you would if it were rusted. It's not however, j thought it would be worth a shot. Next thing I did was use a torch to melt any loctite if there was any. And it still won't budge. I've stripped my T8 torx but, and tried with my t9 but to no avail. Any recommendations? It's not the end of the world, I have scissors on my sak but I don't really need the scissors that often. Thanks

Wd 40 is really just water displacement not a solvent.I have used Break free CLP to loosen bolts ,screws before with success.Try other Torx sizes to see if they give you a better purchase on the screw.Sometimes another size fits better like the 7 or 10

If Loctite is what's causin' the problem use a soldering iron to bring the Loctite to melting temp and break the bond between the threads. It's never failed and it's better than a torch because the heat is concentrated and unlike a torch you won't risk burning or melting the area surrounding/adjacent to the screw. Just take your time and make sure you use a quality torx driver to prevent stripping out the socket where the driver tip contacts the screw.

If you don't have a soldering iron, I have held a nail with some vise grips and heated it with a flame. It worked too. Or a heat gun.

I read here that putting it in the freezer for several hours works too.

I haven't tried it yet myself.
