Can't make up my mind

First and foremost I would like to start off by saying hi to everyone. I've been a long time lurker but this is my first time posting on this forum. I, like a lot of you caught the Sebenza bug late last year and purchased a small micarta 21 just around new years ago. I have edc'd it ever since and couldn't be happier.

So after reading many posts and seeing a lot of pictures I decided that it was already time for me to upgrade. Not away from the small 21, as for my purposes it is the perfect little knife, but towards something a bit "fancier" if you may. So a few weeks ago I placed an order for a small 21 unique graphic with a Devin Thomas Ladder Damascus blade.

However since my order I have started to second guess myself in regards to choosing to go with a unique graphic as oppose to an inlay... specifically an cream ivory inlay. Since I plan to make this my new edc, my questions are:

1) Is the non inlay version too thin for edc use?
2) How well does ivory hold up?
3)How well does a unique graphic hold up?

As I still have time to change my mind, I wouldn't mind some feedback from anyone who maybe has experienced similar blades. Any opinions would be great, and general discussion/pics are always welcome.

Cheers,

Kyle :)

Ivory is super cool....graphics get scratched up and the ano fades when edc'd...personaly i would stick with the ivory...damascus blades are also good user blades.

For EDC Carry In/Lays Are Much Better Than Graphics Like BigMark Said

Here Are A Few In/Laid Of Mine, My Choice Would Be Ivory & Damascus

Thanks for the quick reply guys. As I was already leaning towards changing my order to ivory, your opinions helped me make up my mind. I plan to use this knife quite often and i definitely want something that will hold up. Now only to decide between bark and cream ivory. So many choices...

I wished I had known this info before I bought mine. Well, guess I gotta get an inlay version now. And the Ivory looks awesome!

I just thought I would throw out an update. So I spoke with Charmaine and she was more then happy to allow me to change my order. She even went over the different ivory options with me. By the sounds of it they are still quite backed up with Damascus orders, so it's going to be about 10 months until I get my knife. However, when it does arrive it's going to be a sweet small 21 with cream ivory inlay, all silver hardware and stainless ladder damascus :D

Sounds like a sweet knife. I love the look of the bark, but would be scared to death to carry either ivory version for fear of cracking it.

Nice family shot, Rick!!

Originally I thought the same thing and that's why I went with the micarta version. Since owning it though I have realized that I am certainly not a hard user. If anything, the knife spends the majority of the time in my pocket when i'm not cleaning it or admiring it. This knife will probably see the same amount of use and pocket time... just a lot more admiring :D

Ajax,
That sounds like a sweet knife. I am sure it will be well worth the wait. Be sure to post some pics when it shows up.

That Has Some Super Sweet Ivory On It :yawn::yawn: Rick :yawn::yawn:

My original interest in Sebbies was with all the wood inlay varieties but that's probably because there wasn't any Mammoth ones available at that time. Since that, I have really got into them and, although I still love some of the wood grains and patterns, I would choose Ivory as my favourite material. I have three at the moment - two with bark cut and one inner cut (like what yours will be) Here are some pictures of mine and I hope you enjoy your new knife when it arrives later, Kyle :D

First, here is a large Classic with Bark Mammoth Ivory inlay and Basketweave Damasteel blade,

Next is my new desk knife. This is my most recently purchased one and I couldn't resist the chance to buy it. A large Classic 21 with Bark Mammoth Ivory inlay and double thumb lugged Ladder Damasteel blade,

Finally, a large 2008 Limited Edition. All you'll see this is different from the other two Classics as it's a Regular Sebenza. Mammoth Ivory inlay and Raindrop Damasteel blade,

I certainly will post pics when I get it. In the mean time these beautiful pics will have to keep me satisfied. Great knives everyone. Mark, I have to agree with Rick, that 2008 is a real stunner!
