Can't post new sales thread

Hi there,

Could anyone please help me? For some reason, starting a couple of days ago, whenever I try to post a new sales thread, after I click the 'submit thread' button, nothing happens for several minutes, and then I just get an error message saying the server where the page is located is not responding. BTW, I'm not a newbie at posting here, or on other forums. I've just never had this problem before. I also followed the 'multiple threads' rule, and did not post more than one sales thread in the subforum in less than 24 hrs. In addition, I was able to successfully post this thread, I just can't post sales threads. Any help would be appreciated.

More details:

The specific subforum is "The Knife Exchange" ---> For Sale by Individuals ---> For sale: Production Fixed Blades (Individual)

Someone posted with a similar issue here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1255169-Still-can-t-start-new-threads-AGAIN?highlight=can%27t+post+sales+thread

I have tried all of the usual fixes: clearing my cache, using a different computer/browser, copying and pasting, only typing a few lines at a time then saving and editing the thread...nothing seems to work.

I don't have this problem on other forums, including those using vBulletin Version 4.2.2

I have read all the stickies in this subforum regarding rules, FAQs, etc.

No worries DOc, let me know what transpires or if I can help out. These are some pretty darn strange issues to be certain.

I heard back from Spark and we're now trying to determine what's going on. I'll keep you updated for sure. Thanks again.

Having the exact same issue but in the BUSSE sub forum. I'll email Spark as well

I'm now having this exact same issue while trying to post a new sales thread in

"The Knife Exchange" ---> For Sale by Individuals ---> For sale: Production Folders (Individual).

Did any of the prior posters of this issue find a solution?

Spark has not popped in to say it has been fixed.

Start a sales thread in the Feedback GBU section and I can try and move it into the correct section. Let me know when you do it so I can move it and it won't sit and linger there all night.

I last emailed Spark on April 5th. I'll update this thread when I have more info.

RevDevil, thank you, I greatly appreciate the offer! I work in Technical Support at my employer, so I have a sense of how to troubleshoot, and I started to play with this more today. What I've found is that I still can post in the For Sale: Production Folders (Individual) forum. I simply entered a title and the word "Testing" in the body of the post. It worked. I did that because I suspected that it was some series of characters in the larger posting that I was trying to copy and paste from Notepad (including some HTML formatting...bolding, underlining, etc). Even after successfully initializing the thread, I still could not save the changes after pasting the "real" content of the post into the window.

So, I'm confident that this issue is related to some series of characters...or to pasting from Notepad with HTML formatting. In any case, I've narrowed it down sufficiently to allow me to function again. This would explain why different browsers, clearing caches, etc were not solving anything, and why different people are randomly encountering it in different forums.

Would it be helpful for me to send the my findings to Spark?

DocPyres, were you also pasting text from an external word processor?

Could be. I can usually paste from an external notepad, but mine is plaintext. Nevertheless, I've had problems posting a long response typed directly into Bladeforums. I've also had problems posting a response to a quoted post that went through once I removed the quoted portion. The problem for me always seemed to be too much posted. Shorten it or edit in separate parts.

I've tried pasting from an iPad and from other vBulletin powered forums, and I've tried typing and submitting an original thread (long or medium). Neither method worked. I've also tried submitting a very short thread, and then repeatedly editing it to make it longer, but that only allowed me to post about 2 lines of text before it quit accepting my edits.

DocPyres, you apparently have a much worse issue than me then, or so it seems. I was able to create a thread today by pasting several larger chunks of text from Notepad. Hmmm...

I'm able to post threads. Others are able to post threads. Something seems to be going on between your keyboard and our site. I'm investigating.

Thanks for the help, Spark. I really appreciate it. I'll try posting in the specific subforum I'm having difficulty with, on a friend's computer tomorrow, to see what happens.

Test paste...

The Song of Wandering Aengus

I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.

When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire a-flame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And someone called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.

Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done,
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.

Hannibal24, I just tried a test paste again, and I can make threads in other subforums on BF, just not in the specific subforum I mentioned above. Is that the same as in your case?

*Update: So I just got back from my friend's place, where I tried to post a new thread and edit an existing thread in "For sale: Production Fixed Blades (Individual)", on my friend's computer, and the problem is exactly the same as before. I can make small edits or posts, but anything more than a line or two, and I get the same error message.

What's your ISP?

I tried to post two paragraphs here to explain that I've not encountered the issue again, but then I encountered it again trying to submit that post here! Trying to keep this short to see if I can post.

UPDATE: OK, the above text went through. DocPyres, I've posted several new threads successfully over in the exchange since having the issue. Then I encountered it here just trying to post a few sentences. Spark, I have Verizon DSL at home, but I had the same issue at work (different ISP, I believe).
