I have a spyderco sharpmaker and cant sharpen a 154cm benchmade i mark the edge with sharpie and on the 30 degree side it takes off the sharpe but still does not get sharp so i am really confused thanks

Something ain't right!!!! Go to 40 degrees and progress through rods as it shows in directions,,,,, you should have it shaving in just a few minutes!!!!

My Grip had a really pitiful edge from the factory. Very coarse, not sharp, and the bevels were significantly uneven. It took quit a bit of work to fix. 154cm is definitely not the easiest steel to sharpen, I had to use diamond stone or it would have taken all day. I still love my Grip, but was disappointed in the edge, and even after working on it its still not perfect, but is very sharp none the less and a weekly quick stropping has kept it that way.

Start with 75-100 strokes using the 30 degree. THEN move to the 40.

75-100 on the 40 you should be good to go . .

This is not the correct method of setting a secondary bevel. 10-20 on the 40 setting is more than enough, any more than that and it's no longer a microbevel.

Yep exactly.

Stroke counting is hokey to begin with , 75 strokes does not guarantee that you hit the edge of the edge.

When I apply a microbevel I just do 5ish to 10ish strokes per side.
