Can't stop rounding tips with WSKTS

I picked up a Work Sharp off the exchange recently, and I can't stop rounding the tips on small knives. I can get them insanely sharp, but now my Kershaw Zing doesn't exactly resemble its former self. I've done some searching and everyone just seems to "get a hang of it" after a few knives, but I'm confused as to what people are actually doing.

Any help is appreciated.

Do NOT take the tip beyond halfway across the belt. As long as you stop before that, the belt will not rotate against the tip and grind it away. :)

I am in the same boat with you. Above suggestion should help. I also think I was pulling the blades too fast and rotating the blade (read TIP) into the belt when I pulled the blade past the back of the guide toward the front of the guide. The "front" of the guide then became a "pivot" point and any force (lateral), other than straight back, would "pivot" the blade in or out from the belt. At least that is what I think I was doing. My goal now is to "focus" and reeeeeeeealy be aware of what I am doing:) I do like the WS.

I think I've managed to fix the problem guys, thanks a lot. From what I can tell, the big issue was that I was so worried about heat building up (which really hasn't been a problem) that I just rushed through knives. With longer knives like kitchen knives, the pressure naturally decreases near the tip which is why I wasn't mangling those. Now I'm just going much slower and consciously stopping at the tip.

I love the WS, as it's gotten my knives far sharper than my Sharpmaker ever has, but the directions included are totally flawed. Good thing that Zing was all of $30.

This. Don't move past the center of the belt. :)
