I know some of you guys are already experiencing snow here in the U.S. but down here in Florida we havent got below the high fifty's yet. The chiggers and ticks make it almost impossible for a pleasant trip into the backcountry for almost anytime at all. Including day hikes. Picking up twenty ticks and 500 chiggers in no way to spend a day. It will be nice to be able sit around a campfire in 30 degree weather and be insect free. chopping firewood with a nice large blade. That's what life is all about.:)

hey sevenedges I'm still scratchin chiggs, the other day it was 53 degree started foamin at the mouth. fixin to burn-up the trails at Kissame..?

We've been mosquito free here for months. Fires and great in the cold. Good food, a big fire and a crafty natural shelter is a great combination in the colder months.

Let's hang to fall for a little while longer. The winter months here in N Dakota can get a little long. But I did just pick a 3hp jiffy 10" ice auger, so in that case I am looking forward to ice fishing, as soon as I get tired of pheasant hunting, that my take some time this year though. The dog is working great and the birds are plentyfull.

I know I'm ready for winter. Will be picking up some new snowshoes soon. Looking forward to some nice peaceful hiking. The mosquitos have been gone here for some time now but, ticks are still around. I got a deer tick on me last week  Make sure you guys are still doing you tick checks to be safe ;)

Snowed while I was grouse hunting today in Ontario. Missed a few shots, but the walk was glorious.
