I was incredibly surprised to find my RC-4 delivered today. Only 11 days from ship date and having to pass through customs. Perhaps, I'm one of the first batch of CDN RC-4 owners?
First impressions - the knife certainly meets all my expectations and well deserving of the accolades given it thus far. Knife shaved hair out the package, but I couldn't resist giving it a caress on the sharpmaker. The 20o angle seems about right. Fit and finish are excellent.
I like the overall thickness of the blade. You feel like you have a real chunck of knife in your hand. As others have said before, the knife feels bigger than it is. It is actually heavier than my buck 119, but this probably due to the full tang of the RC-4 compensating for the longer blade of the 119. Balance is much nicer than the buck.
Handle feels very good. It is compact with no handle room to spare, but completely comfortable and the thickness feels good. This is my first mircata handle and I wasn't expecting the feel of the grip. Almost feels like a piece of metal in the hand but with good tactile feel.
Sheath is very nice. I adjusted the tension screw as per the revised instructions to give it a bit tighter lock. I used the supplied paracord to string up a belt loop on the sheath as Horndog showed earlier. The knife rides high but feels good. Handle doesn't jam in my side or anything even when sitting down. The ability to adjust the tension to your liking is very nice.
I didn't get the molle back and kind of regret that, just for the great number of carry options it gives and would like the ability to carry the knife lower. I'll probably order one at the later date or perhaps go for an RC-3. I understand the molleback can be interchanged between the two - Am I correct here?
I will take it into the field tomorrow and give a bit of test drive. I have my daughters concert to go to tonight. Now I have to take off eh....
Great Product Jeff and Mike!
