What is the difference between canvas and linen micarta?
May people seem to prefer the canvas.
I have an RC4 and I'm not quite sure what sort of handles I have.

Any pictures would be great!

Canvas is a courser texture, which provides more dry grip. Tan canvas micarta is used in ESEE knives, rc3mil, rc5(I think) If it doesn't look smooth and dark, or smooth and orange its probably canvas. I think its offered on the rc4 if it has a tan blade coating.

I prefer linen micarta for damp traction, it really seems to stick in my hand if my palms are sweaty, its raining/snowing, or just around water. Mind you if its dirty/grungy it doesn't have that effect for me, only if its clean/scrubbed recently.

I think the canvas is more grippy but the linen is soooo nice and smooth. Must fondle..

I have realized that I prefer the linen. I thought the canvas would have better grip, I don't find that to be the case. Plus the linen is just so smooth and, really just fun to handle.

I prefer the feel of the canvas and it's grip when it's dry. When wet, I think both the canvas and linen provide about the same amount of grip. In the end it really just comes down to what feels good to each person.

Ah right, so the tan micarta is canvas and the nice grey micarta is linen.

My RC4 came with a funky smell attached to it, so it soaped up the handle and realised that it was still really grippy even when coated in soap! Great stuff!

My HEST and RC-4 have the canvas. It feels really good, but i was wondering if it would fray at some point. Does the micarta epoxy/resin/whatever it is hold it together well enough over time?

I agree. Canvas also feels rounder to me although I havn't felt them side by side since I got the canvas.
