Canvas micarta scales

I was wondering if some of the micarta scales have a matte finish now rather than the high polish? some of the pictures i have seen look like they are.
 
I'm pretty sure some get a sandblasted finish and look matte. The color also seams to change based on the finish technique and the wax applied after.
 
For hunting and fishing, I like the bead blasted better. For spoon carving, I like the polished better :)
 
This thread needs pics. Here's one that was polished, but has since lost it's wax through use.

Let's see a Matte and a new Polished for comparison.
 
We only sandblast the micarta handles, and then, only some micartas. For choppers it makes a much more functional grip. Even for smaller knives the working of the knife is improved. It is not going to smooth out over time though. You'd have to sand it for that to happen.
