Why don't they make folding knives in canvas Mycarta?
I only see them in some sheath knives.
It's a great grip, in hot, cold, wet, or dry.

There are folding knives with Micarta handles. Do you see any effective difference between canvas Micarta and any other grade?

There are quite a few custom folders made with canvas micarta. Some Microtechs were/are made with it too, the Terzuola DA's, the LCC's, the new DA folders also come in canvas micarta. It might be used more often in fixed blades, but there are certainly a bunch of folders that use it for their handles.

Unless it's finished to a shiny polish, there are always tiny bits of canvas sticking out of it - very grippy.

Yes, IMO, there are big differences between canvas, linen, and paper micarta. Paper is too smooth, and more pretty than useful. Canvas is very grippy, but some people seem to think it looks dull and unattractive. Linen micarta is somewhere in the middle.

Thank you but, customs are out of my range right now....maby one day!

Great photo's. I can dream!

Lone Wolf has a couple of knives with green canvas micarta.

By the way, the grippiness often comes down to how you finish the scales. I built a bunch of knifes from blanks from Texas Knifemakers Supply - a set of 5 steaknives and a carving set. The steakknives are handled in black linen micarta , sanded to about 600-800 grit. The carving set is handled in green canvas micarta, sanded to about 2000 grit and buffed with automotive polishing compound.

The canvas micarta is shiny and extremely smooth to the touch. The linen micarta is dull and although the handles appear to be very smooth, they are super grippy and feel almost like rough sanded wood.
