Could I get some opinions on each and where to get the stuff? Are there diff. grades of each? I'm trying do decide which to use for scales on my folder. Thankyou

Linen has a tighter, smoother grain than canvas. IMHO, I would go with linen micarta on a folder.

You can get them from a knifemakers supply like Koval Knives or Sheffield's

Paper Micarta finishes even smoother than linen. I never realy considered it until I saw Bill Simons use it on a fixed blade he made a while back. It's also available from Sheffield Supply.
