I'm looking for a new canvas rucksack, my old one's getting pretty ragged. I'm not too picky but it needs to have a decent amount of space and large straps. I like the canvas because it lasts longer under a lot of hard use, my last one lasted about ten years of everyday use. Does anyone know of a good brand for this kind of pack?

Not a brand, but I have had luck with milsurp ones in the past.

I have a Swiss sans frame, a German (with waterproof liner), and I think a Chinese at the moment.

They are all simple big pocket types.

Duluth Pack - made in the US, you can get the Nessmuk style if you're into that thing

Filson has one or two things. Some made in the US, some newer models made in China. Their shoulder straps don't look particularly comfortable, but OK for lighter loads.

If you're looking for a bargain, old surplus is probably the best bet. I've seen some nice stuff coming out of Europe, but no regular source.

I've used one like this for a couple of years for knocking around in the woods.
