I found some nice canvas at a local material store. I plan on working with leather but thought about using the canvas for a sheath. Problem is its flexable and the blade can stick right through. Does anyone know how to use lexan as an interior and the canvas for an exterior? Tnis may be a waste of time though. Maybe leather would be the best thing. Just a thought.

I think the canvas would be quite interesting for a sheath. You could do some creative artwork on them. How about using a piece of copper pipe as a liner? You could wrap the copper with the canvas and rivet the canvas in place.

Is the canvas waxed? Canvas holds water well, and tends to discolor easily.

I just made a sheath out of nylon ,I sent Graymaker a photo perhaps he might post it .I started out with 1/16 " polyethylene Which can be easily warmed up with a torch and formed. This was formed around the blade and flaired a bit to make blade insertion easier. It was then stapled around the edge which gave it a snug fit so that it wouldn't fall out held point up. It was then covered with cordura nylon which is better than canvas and is available in many colors. This is a typical scandinavian sheath that covers about 2/3 of the handle. You can't wet and stretch nylon of course.

its just basic raw(died) canvas. I was thinking of using plastic for a liner since I have access to it at work. I need to see an example or something to see how it may be done. I need to finnish the blade first!!!

I couls resin the cloth too.........then rivet it!
Now I'm gettin' my gears thinkiing.....

You might want to edit your post and put some xxx's or brakets around your e-mail address unless you want a million e-mails trying to sell you some penis enlarging patches or refinance your house.

thanks! Maybe the inlargement would be a good thing;)

I'm in the process of making a kydex sheath wrapped in burlap (was going to use canvas, but the burlap was cooler...) on a big knife.

So far, so good...neat stuff.

hey PEN, can you post some pictures of that sheath?

Sorry, Bro. I've already disassembled it (it'll be part of a tutorial I'm making).

When I'm finished, I'll post pics - but that may be a few days off...
