Canvas Tarp Hat

I have a similar hat,I can't think what brand but it's an outback style,it's hot if the temperature is above 65 or 70 degrees and that's not even hiking or anything.Around here they are fine 8 or 10 months out of the year but too hot for summer.

I have the same hat and wear it all year. I like it. Sturdy and fairly light on the head. The crown is lower than most. You can find hats that are cooler, many have mesh that allows for decent air flow, but they all look a little too "old man" for my taste. Maybe I'm just in denial.

I'm really happy with my Tilley's. The cotton ones are better in hot humid conditions but, I like the synthetic one when it rains because it sheds water. The cotton one is like wearing an evaporative cooler like your grandpa had in low humidity Arizona. Get the air cool top if you are worried about heat but, the British "beads" work well on my older one.

Honestly? I think those are FUGLY! I am a certified "Hat Hound", and doubt I could wear one of those.

If you want something tough... look into the offerings from Filson. Their Tin Cloth hats are beyond tough. Durable AND washable? Look into Tilly. Something that isn't hot... many many choices of straw hats out there.
