Anybody have any suggestions for making cap nuts without a lathe? These things are giving me a heck of a time trying to make.

Thanks,
Tony

chuck it up in your hand drill, assuming you have a piece with a rod already attached.
if not you can drill and tap your hole in the bottom of your cap then use a junk screw to put in the drill.
I use my little drill press too.
hope that helps :)

To make a point on it chuck it up in the drill and put it to the grinder. Make sure have the drill running the opposite direction of the grinder.

I do the same thing with the drill/grinder 95% of the time. On the rare occasions when I need more precision or when I'm feeling experimental :o
I hook up small grinders like the Dremil and some shop built grinders, to the cross slide on my Homemade lathe and grind it that way. It is surprising what kinds of shapes you come up with. Most can't be duplicated though.
