I bet that someone has done this before, but I couldn't find any threads so...
I just got around to upgrading the handle mounting hardware on my Lovely Becker BK-9. I know from watching the threads here that the proper Cap Screw is: Stainless Steel #10-24 x 5/8". My hardware store did not have the 5/8" but they did have the 3/4" inch length. Since I added liners to thicken up the handle a bit (something else I learned here in Becker Country) my stock hardware had the ends of the screws sitting flush with the top of the nut face. I figured that 3/4" would be ok in my case, but then I saw these "Cap Nuts" with a shiny dome. I figured that the extended portion of screw thread would be hidden by the dome, and here it is!
The forward dome sits about 1mm above the handle face, and the 2nd and 3rd only fractions of a mm. Being right handed, it feels great - and I tried to pretend that I was a lefty and decided that it might interfere with your fingertips gripping the screw holes if that is a method that you use. Still felt comfortable.
So, I'm totally stoked! I was just going to upgrade to SS (my forward screw started to rust) and I ended up with this "Custom Look"
Thanks Beckerheads! Thanks Ethan!
