Captain Issues

I just got a new Captain. It's a great looking knife and it feels great in the hand and in the pocket, but I have 2 issues with it.

I haven't bought a liner lock since 2000 when I had a chineese folder I could see the lock moving on my durring heavy use  So I was intersted to see how the captain would do since I'm mainly anti liner lock now. Guess what is moves  . It doesn't close on me but the liner does move out to the edge.

Second all the pictures show a silver clip and mine is black :( I thought I'd be getting a silver one. I was always fond of my knives with the siver clips.

Mine has the same issue with the lock moving, but despite my efforts, I cannot get it to fail. I've been using mine since I got it, and using it pretty hard, but it's quite durable.

You can always send it in to have it checked out, but it hasn't caused any problems for me.

You should be able to easily remove the black finish from the Captain's clip. I've done it on both my D4 Wave and Tasman Salt SE and they look much better than the stock black clip.

Remove the clip, place it in a sealed jar with enough nail polish remover to cover it and let it sit for a few days.

Take the clip out and scrub it down with one of those green scrubby pads typically used on pots and pans. Works like a charm. You could even go further by polishing it with some compound and a buffing wheel or dremel buffing pad.

I haven't done this with the Captain, but I'm think it will work just fine. Good luck
